Expect encounters with tiger sharks, oceanic manta rays, dolphins, spinner sharks, nurse sharks, leopard sharks, stingrays, turtles, and more.
Guaranteed Encounters: Tiger sharks in Fuvahmulah, plus reef sharks and stingrays encounter around Kaafu and Vaavu.
Possible Encounters: Oceanic manta rays and dolphins, depending on conditions and animal activity.
Bonus Sightings: Leopard sharks, whale sharks, turtles, and other pelagic species may also appear.
Most of the Maafushi activities are in shallow water averaging 5–10 meters, making them suitable for snorkelers, beginners, and experienced freedivers. The Fuvahmulah tiger shark experience requires appropriate freediving experience.

Maafushi offers a completely different side of the Maldives.
The surrounding waters give us opportunities for nurse sharks, stingrays, dolphins, spinner sharks, shipwrecks, and other marine life, while the island itself gives us time to experience local Maldivian life.
The dates also place this retreat around Eid al-Fitr, giving guests the opportunity to experience the atmosphere of Eid on a local Maldivian island. Open to snorkelers, beginners, and experienced freedivers.

Since 2022, Ms. Val Bautista of Azul Freediving has been bringing Filipino freedivers to the Maldives, organizing 2–3 Maldives trips every year. Over multiple visits, Azul has experienced different islands, seasons and marine wildlife, allowing Ms. Val to build itineraries around specific wildlife encounters and seasonal conditions.
