March is the time to experience the Maldives at its calmer and clearer. The water is generally calmer during the northeast monsoon, making it ideal for exploring lagoons, swimming with dolphins, and spending more time in the water. In Maafushi, hundreds of dolphins can sometimes move into the lagoon, creating an incredible encounter in shallow, calm water. Fuvahmulah adds a completely different experience with tiger sharks and other pelagics.

August brings a completely different side of the Maldives. In Baa Atoll, the southwest monsoon pushes plankton-rich water toward Hanifaru Bay, attracting large numbers of reef manta rays to feed. During strong aggregation events, dozens and sometimes well over a hundred mantas can gather in the bay, often forming the famous “manta cyclone” as they feed together. August falls within the peak manta season, making Dharavandhoo the perfect base for this experience. (Details Soon)
